Spanish Colonial Revival and Santa Barbara Style Furniture

California Tower Spanish Colonial RevivalSpanish Colonial Revival is one of the prominent architectural styles in California. This movement in the United States arose during the early 20th century and was based on the style of Spanish Colonial architecture which was used during the Spanish colonization of the Americas. The Spanish Colonial Revival gained national exposure after the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in San Diego put the work of Bertram Goodhue on display. The California Tower in Balboa Park, San Diego is a great example of this style of architecture and design. The City of Santa Barbara adopted this style during rebuilding after the 1925 Santa Barbara earthquake which caused widespread destruction. Santa Barbara's adoption and use of this style has caused many to use the term "Santa Barbara" style design and furniture to describe the Spanish Colonial Revival style.   At San Diego Rustic, we carry a complete line of Spanish Colonial Revival or "Santa Barbara" style furniture.
