In Indonesia the most common ethnic furniture is in the carving found in the urban furniture industry, mostly in Java, where detailed carved sofas and chairs are very popular. Indonesia has a very unique look in their style of ethnic furniture.  San Diego Rustic imports furniture directly from Indonesia and might include Teak daybeds, recycled Teak console tables, interesting and unique accessories, solid wood benches, statues, cabinets and more.  ethnic chinese sideboard  ethnic chinese laquer cabinet  ethnic indian cupboard     ethnic indian credenza

There are roughly 1000 small furniture factories in Jodhpur, India where San Diego Rustic has their furniture factory.  Most of the factories make furniture for much larger exporters but SDR imports has the factory that only supplies our warehouse in San Diego.  Furniture manufacturing in India has been going on for centuries as far back as 1300 AD.  Woodcraft was considered an art and a trade and people in the industry were highly respected by the royalty of the time.  Woods used to construct Indian ethnic furniture may include Sheesham wood, Teak wood, Mango wood and Acacia wood.  Carving is very common with India ethnic furniture and most of the artisans that are skilled in carving do not use power tools but instead they use the same hand tools that their ancestors used centuries ago.  ethnic indian bench      ethnic india sideboard      ethnic chinese furniture      ethnic chinese cabinet

Ethnic furniture and accessories have been around in the Mexican culture for many centuries.  The style was strongly influenced by the native Mexicans and Spanish elements.  After the Spanish conquest of Mexico in the 16th century, Spanish monks had churches and monasteries constructed and craftsmen from Spain to build furniture for the new buildings.  At first there was a prominent European décor but it didn’t take long for the new world to make a big influence.  In Mexico the common wood used to construct ethnic furniture is Pine Wood, Alder Wood and Mesquite Wood.  San Diego Rustic works with numerous furniture and ceramic factories in Mexico and without the use of a middle man we keep the costs low which we pass on to our customers.  ethnic mexican table      ethnic antique chinese furniture      ethnic asian antiques      ethnic asian cabinet

San Diego Rustic travels to small villages in China and has agents that buy furniture and accessories at the local markets and ship them to the bigger cities for refurbishing.  The furniture includes new, antique and recycled cupboards, cabinets, sideboards, dressers, chairs, stools, altar tables, statues, carvings, panels and a whole lot more.  Many of the older Chinese furniture pieces were originally constructed without the use of nails, screws or glue.  For centuries the Chinese craftsmen use dowels and woodworking joints.  This technique has been used for centuries.  All of the items San Diego Rustic Furniture imports are one of a kind.
